Bearing Selection

Various types of rolling bearings have different characteristics for different kinds of machinery usage. Select the bearing type, usually following factors should be considered. Under normal circumstances, when the choice of thrust load on the bear thrust bearings, angular contact bearings, high-speed applications typically use ball bearings to withstand heavy radial loads, then the choice of roller bearings. In short, the choice of who should be different manufacturers, many bearing products, the selection of the appropriate type.
In mechanical design, first determine the general size of the shaft, and then, depending on the shaft size selection bearing. Usually small selection of ball bearing shaft, the shaft used roller bearings. However, when the diameter of the bearing in the machine direction is restricted, the selection of needle roller bearings, special light and ultra series ball or roller bearings; when the bearing axial position of the machine is limited, the choice of narrow or specific narrow range of ball or roller bearings.
Load bearing the most important factor is the choice. Roller bearings are used to bear a heavier load, ball bearings for light or medium load, or bainite hardening carburizing steel bearings, can withstand shock and vibration loads. The direction of action of the load, the pure radial loads, the choice of deep groove ball bearings, cylindrical roller bearings or needle bearings. Smaller bear pure axial load, the choice of thrust ball bearings; withstand large pure axial load, the choice of thrust roller bearings. When the bearing radial and axial joint load, generally used in angular contact ball bearings or tapered roller bearings.
When the centerline of the shaft and the bearing centerline different angle error there, or because of the shaft and the shaft two bearing spacing greater rigidity to small and can easily force bent or tilted, the choice of aligning performance with good tune aligning ball or spherical roller bearings, and outer ball bearings. Such bearings on the shaft slightly inclined or curved case, can keep working. Aligning bearing performance is good or bad, its permissible misalignment on different axes higher the value, the better aligning performance.
Bearing stiffness, bearing-generating unit is the size of the force required to deform. Rolling elastic deformation is small, in most machines do not have to be considered, but in some machines, such as machine tool spindle, bearing stiffness is an important factor to be used generally cylindrical and tapered roller bearings. Because these two types of bearings under load when the rolling element and raceway is point contact, less rigid. In addition, various types of bearings can also preload to achieve the purpose of increasing the support rigidity. Such as angular contact ball bearings and tapered roller bearings, to prevent the shaft vibration, increased support rigidity, often in advance when installing certain axial force applied to pressed against each other. Particularly pointed out here: the amount of preload is not too large. Is too large, it causes the bearing friction increases, the temperature increased, affecting bearing life.
